Graduated from MHS in 1954, five years after coming to the US as a refugee from the Czech Republic. Earned a basketball scholarship at Oklahoma State University and received BS and MS degrees in civil engineering. Earned PhD in engineering mechanics from The Catholic University of America. Taught at the US Naval Academy. Founded and was CEO of two software firms, CADCOM and Intercad. After cashing out, ran Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland. Was general partner in two international venture capital firms. Author of three memoirs: PRAGUE: MY LONG JOURNEY HOME; NAME-DROPPINGS: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH THE FAMOUS AND NEAR-FAMOUS; and READY, FIRE, AIM! AN IMMIGRANT'S TALES OF ENTREPRENEURIAL TERROR. Currently working on fourth book and serving on three boards of directors. Raced sailboats for 30 years; have skied all over US and in Europe; play lots of golf. Married to 1955 MHS graduate, Susan (Holsten) Heller. We live in Annapolis, Maryland. Inducted into Oklahoma State University CEAT Hall of Fame.
