Laurence Rhines & Lauren Terreri Rhines: Class of 1985

Some say it was kismet, some say destiny, either way it was a chance encounter that I would not soon forget! Truthfully though our story first began when we met at Freylinghuysen where we sat next to each other in 8th grade Algebra. We were casual acquaintances, but dare I say the writing was on the wall...or more appropriately, the yearbook! I had signed his yearbook "looking forward to getting to know you better!" Isn't that crazy? Looking back I do believe that is just what I did!

We both moved on to MHS and had separate interests. He was in the band and I was a cheerleader. We shared so many fun Saturday football game memories! Our siblings, Jared and Kristin, we’re friends at MHS and Keith and Debbie also attended as well. Larry and I had wonderful high school experiences enjoying fencing and Key Club activities. We both received an excellent education forming the foundation for our college careers. We often speak fondly of our teachers at MHS. Reminiscing about Mr. Harris and chemistry class, Drivers Ed, English and the Kitchen fire which had us walking back and forth from Alexander Hamilton! We were even in the same Prom group!

The second time we met, several years later, we happen to both be at the same restaurant/bar where MHS students would often frequent and he was the only person I knew there. He and his friend asked if they could join my friend and I. We had a wonderful evening and he even asked if he could walk me to my car because it was dark! What a gentleman! He later tracked me down through my friend Cathy and that is really where our story began. Looking back, marrying someone you went to high school with has given us an even stronger bond. Sharing similar memories and milestones, knowing each others friends and hometown brings us genuine joy. We grew up together, in a way, even though we didn't know it at the time, and now we are growing even closer together in this next chapter of our lives. This year will be our 40th reunion! Larry and I were married in 1992, have 3 beautiful adult children and live in Texas. Morristown High School will always have a special place in our hearts. We feel so lucky to have each other and to share our story.
